FAQs

1. Is this a racing club or a social club?

We are a social non-competitive club. Our rides are supported by a ride leader. A few times a year, we organize a camping trip with touring rides in the countryside. We often enjoy after ride social activities.

2. Are non-members allowed to join rides?

We welcome non-members and suggest you enjoy a few rides with our club before joining. See calendar for your next ride.

3. Are rides covered by insurance?

The Club has Public Liability Insurance that covers members on Club rides. Personal injury insurance also provides limited coverage for members. Members are encouraged to obtain their own personal and bike insurance.
Bicycle Queensland offers good insurance for riders and their bikes.

4. Is there a club jersey?

The club has a few jersey options. Learn more.

5. Is there a bigger view of the calendar?

You can see a full screen view here: https://calendar.online/rider
You can also download the Calendar.Online App from the Apple Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, select 'Add a new access link by entering the address manually' and add the word rider in the blank access bar.

6. How do you know who is riding especially on Saturdays?

Each Saturday group uses WhatsApp. So before the ride, send a quick text message in WhatsApp to your riding group. It's also good when it's raining so you can quickly check to see who is still coming. It's not for social chat. Just about the ride. WhatsApp can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play.

7. How can we access a rider's emergency contacts?

Your mobile phone can hold your health and emergency contact information. It would be quicker, more up to date and easier than going to a website and logging in, only to find that person hasn't updated their emergency contact details. Please add your emergency contacts to your mobile phone.

8. How do I let anyone know I will be the ride leader on a particular ride?

Just let one of our calendar editors know you would like to lead a ride. They will add your name to that ride on the calendar. They are:
Phillip Price, Michael Jacobson, Paul Glass, Ian Jope, Rob Cole,
Paul McGuire, Grant Alexander, Greg Martin and Jane Carr.
Or you can email info@SCBTC.net with the details.
