BQ events
Bicycle Queensland is offering our riders some great riding weekends away. All the ticketed events have extensive discounts for BQ Members – and if people haven't been a member before they can sign up for 25% off while buying an event ticket (which means they can access member pricing as well).
Weekend at Wondai
When: April 25-27 (but the site opens on April 24 and there is a planned night ride)
Where: Wondai, about 3hrs NW from Brisbane. This is a base camp style event for camping, caravans or campervans – or book accommodation in Wondai
What: Lots of gravel rides to choose from, all based from Wondai. Some routes are best served with a MTB. All meals and the camp costs are included. Some rides visit sightseeing locations – there's also an optional wine tour!
Cost: $330 for BQ Members, $400 for non-members, kids are $110
Having gone up last week to ride some of the routes, the gravel riding is really good, and the back roads are very, very quiet.

Her Ride Brisbane
When: May 25-June 22
Where: 2 sessions at Nundah, the rest at Milton
What: This is Brisbane-centric, and it is a 9 session course for a maximum of 45 women who would be beginner or intermediate riders. It's mostly aimed at road riders. The course is run early Wednesday and Sunday afternoons, designed to increase skills, safety and social connections. It is a very well-received program. Coaching is via Kirsty Broun Coaching with a low rider:coach ratio.
Cost: $129 for BQ Members, $199 for non-members
We are still working on a way to expand this program beyond SEQ in a sustainable way that gets the most people involved in the courses possible. Watch this space!

Y2W – Yarraman to Wulkuraka
When: July 4-6
Where: Get to Wulkuraka, outside Ipswich – BQ takes care of the rest
What: A 3-day rail trail adventure on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. BQ takes care of the logistics with transport, luggage transfers, main meals and camps site amenities. This is the best way to ride the BVRT if people don't really want to organise anything. We'll even send them a packlist. This is also accessible by public transport (Wulkuraka station on the Rosewood line), which is a bonus.
Cost: $499 for BQ Members (early bird sold out already), $569 non members, $350 for kids (must be accompanied)
